Meet Adam Castro. As a Personal Trainer with BIOCORE Fitness, you have to set an example, and Adam Castro understands what it's like to fight against a slow metabolism and a background of bad eating habits and low activity. Growing up, Adam enjoyed lots of microwavable foods, candies, and had a regular habit of eating ice cream for dinner. He wasn't great at any sports and wasn't driven to get better at them until he went to college where he spent a lot of time at the gym and talking with the Kinesiology majors. Through research and application, Adam transformed his lifestyle and found a passion for fitness and wellness, bringing his body from a non-athletic 212lbs at 18% bodyfat to a more athletic 200lbs at 16% Bodyfat. After graduating, Adam knew he wanted to help people transform their own lifestyles, so he became a personal trainer and has been helping people ever since. He was also able to bring his body down to 188lbs and 10% bodyfat just before his first Spartan Race, but finds that he is able to race with better performance at around 195lbs and 13% bodyfat. - @adamjoshuacastro
Meet Jaylene Iannini. She started working out with Adam in college, but quickly found out that her journey was going to be a lot harder than most. At an early age, Jaylene was diagnosed with Scoliosis, and unfortunately her family did not take the necessary action to prevent her condition from getting worse. When she tried to workout, she was met with excruciating pain in her lower back that would stick with her throughout the day. This not only made it hard for her to lift weights, but also to do steady state cardio for long periods of time. Through Adam's guidance and her own research, she became more educated about her condition and found ways to correct her spinal and muscular recruitment patterns for her to be able to function better in her cardio and weight lifting. She transformed her body from 125+lbs and 25% Bodyfat to 115lbs and 17% bodyfat, now regularly rockclimbing, hiking, and able to Barbell Squat over 100lbs and Deadlift over 150lbs pain-free. She has also decided to devote herself to helping others transform their lifestyles as a personal trainer with BIOCORE Fitness.
Meet Nicole Dennis. Like Jaylene, she struggled with Scoliosis. When she began Personal Training she was 136lbs, over 20% Body Fat, not too enthusiastic about hitting the gym, and felt pain when lifting too heavy. She also had a desk job that was definitely not helping with her activity levels nor her scoliosis condition. After some time of building up a good connection with her body, doing mobility exercises before every workout, and having her body challenged with resistance training, she was able to bring her body down to 128lbs and dropped to less than 18% bodyfat. More importantly, she did not feel any pain in her heavy lifts and was able to both Squat and Deadlift over 100lbs. This increase in strength has given her the confidence to aspire towards other forms of training like bodybuilding and crossfit!
Meet Kenny Qiushi Zhang. When Kenny first started Personal Training, his only main experience with fitness was playing Basketball. He had not really spent any time in the gym lifting weights, and didn't know how to properly engage and connect with his body. He was also at this time over 240lbs and over 30% bodyfat. In Personal Training, Kenny was introduced to resistance training, and discovered that he had a natural strength in the barbell movements. It did not take long for him to excel in his training and he quickly became one of the strongest members of the BIOCORE Fitness Family. Lifting up to 365lbs in his Squat and 405lbs in his Deadlift, Adam often says and knows that Kenny's strength WILL surpass his own because of how genetically gifted Kenny is! Through his Personal Training experience, Kenny has gone down to 178lbs and 16% Body Fat, and has goals to get even leaner and stronger!
Meet Carol Aleman. Carol is one of the most energetic and positive people you will ever get to know! You would never be able to tell that she is in her 60s because of her ever-excelling passion and performance for her sport, Soccer. When Carol first started Personal Training however, she had a bigger issue than her performance, it was her range of motion in her body. She was experiencing pain in her shoulders and could not reach behind or across her body without feeling that pain. She said that she had tried physical therapy, chiropractic care, and massage therapy, but the pain and lack of range of motion would always come back. The problem was not that these tools were useless, but that they were not fixing her recruitment patterns and everyday movement habits. After a few Training sessions focused on mobility, range of motion, and connection with her body in her everyday life, Carol built back the range of motion in her shoulders completely pain free! This opened the door for her performance to reach new levels, including doing 25 Push-Ups in a row, Running at an over 10mph pace, and being a stronger, leaner, and better athlete for her Soccer games!
Meet Alex Downs. When Alex Downs began his Personal Training journey, he was over 290lbs and almost 35% body fat. He was a sort of gentle giant, standing at 6'4" and not being well connected with his body at all. He would slouch and hide his body as he walked, there was very little explosiveness or intention to his movements, and the only kind of fitness activity he regularly engaged in was playing Basketball. However, Alex had aspirations to lose weight, lose body fat, get strong, and one day be able to join the Army! Through his training, Alex discovered a strength and explosiveness that he had never really tapped into. He learned how to engage his body, how to connect with his muscles, and how to apply himself to different areas of fitness (Resistance Training, Band Training, Bodyweight Training, Kettlebell Training, Running, and more). He discovered that he had a natural strength in Deadlifting and it quickly became one of his favorite things to do. With a PR of 365lbs, Deadlifting was one of the exercises that not only gave Alex strength to push harder in his life, confidence to walk a little taller in his life, but through his Personal Training Experience Alex was able to get down to 245lbs and 25% Body Fat! He is now in the process of joining the Army and serving our Country with his new body with plans to get even stronger an leaner!
Meet Elizabeth Alcantar. Like many, Elizabeth came into the gym feeling a little lost not knowing what to do, what machines to use, or what exercises to help her get the body and strength she wanted. She didn't venture out to the barbells or dumbbells unless they were light, and spent most of her time with the safer machines. Also like many, SHE DID NOT WANT TO DO CARDIO! She wanted to be stronger and leaner, but did not want to spend hours sweating on the treadmill. Through her Personal Training Experience, Elizabeth discovered that she had a natural MOM STRENGTH that came alive during her Resistance Training Programming. She can now Barbell Bench Press 95lbs, Squat 135lbs, and also Deadlift over 135lbs with no pain! She is one of the strongest members of the BIOCORE Fitness Family, and she is STILL getting stronger while maintaining her healthy weight and body fat percentage!
